'Mothering in isolation' is a relatively new and very lonely experience for women.
In many communities, mothers are often the primary carer but are also CARED FOR - especially post-natally. The village/community offers varying experience, skills and abilities to help raise the child (alloparenting) and support the mother.
I found this blog from Gayle Berry, who I trained with 3 years ago, really poignant and very aligned with my concerns and compassion for mothers, especially new mothers! It is exactly why I focus more and more of my time in supporting mums-to-be and new families.
With International Women's Day tomorrow and mothering Sunday this weekend my love and respect goes out to women around the world.
Let's raise each other up! x
