Traditional Ayurvedic massage is shaped by age-old wisdom, and the techniques have been developed over an estimated 5,000 years. They include working with herbal oils, powders and compresses, marma points and traditional Ayurvedic massage techniques. These are all tailored to your body type (dosha - vata, pitta and kapha) and are focused on encouraging balance. Ayurvedic massage can also be used to enhances circulation, increase flexibility and relieve pain and stiffness.
I offer treatments that are influenced by my Ayurvedic training with Sunita Passi from Tri-Dosha, they are primarily a bespoke fusion with other eastern and western bodywork styles, tailored to suit my clients needs and preferences. The key Ayurvedic treatments are:
Mukhabhyanga - face and neck
Shirobhyanga - head, neck and arms
Padabhyanga - lower legs and feet
Abhyanga (Sanskrit meaning ‘glowing limbs/body’) - back, tummy, legs and arms with warmed Ayurvedic oil 75 mins is ideal for this treatment
Udvartana - detox/exfoliation (Indian herbal version of a body scrub using Ayurvedic powder)
Pinda Sweda - dynamic herbal compress massage (there is an additional cost of £10 for this treatment) 75 mins is ideal for this treatment
Ayurveda is translated from Sanskrit as ‘science of life’. Ayurveda works by assessing and treating the whole person, rather than just isolated symptoms, through a holistic toolkit of massage, yoga, meditation, nutrition and herbs.
