Martha offers personalised massage treatments to clients who are in need of a deeply relaxing treatment to calm, reduce tension and stress or who may be in pain, suffering soft tissue injuries or discomfort.
Martha’s treatments are a fusion of both eastern and western advanced clinical massage techniques, which include; deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, soft tissue release, sports stretching, joint mobilisation and acupressure (acupuncture) points and meridians (shiatsu).
Guidance can be given on effective and appropriate after-care (relaxation techniques, exercises and lifestyle adaptations), to help clients facilitate their own healing.
Martha will focus on encouraging deep relaxation, releasing restrictions, reducing pain, improving circulation and increasing your range of movement.
Effective reflexology is the art of stimulating reflex areas in your feet and hands which correspond to organs, glands, and each area of your body. Skilled practitioners apply specific and precise techniques, blood, lymph, nerve and chi circulation improve, your body and mind relax and further balance and well-being can be achieved.
Receiving regular reflexology can make a real difference to your quality of life, effective as part of a healthy lifestyle combining appropriate exercise and good eating practices.
Reflexology with Martha
Martha will work with you to discover areas that require balance through stimulation of the reflexes in your hands and/or feet. Treatments with Martha are holistic (treating you as a whole person, not only a symptom) and Martha brings her knowledge of traditional Chinese medicine to her treatments.
Many health problems can be linked to nervous stress and tension. In treatments with Martha she looks to bring you into deep relaxation, relieving stress and tension and restoring your vitality.
Shiatsu is a holistic, hands-on treatment, with its roots in traditional Chinese medicine. Focused on bringing balance to your physical, spiritual and emotional well-being.
Shiatsu originated in Japan and has evolved to incorporate many western practices. Treatments with Martha include her working along acupressure (acupuncture) points and meridians, ampuku (abdominal massage), the release of myofascia and muscles, assisted stretches, joint mobilisation and deep rhythmic movement.
Shiatsu treatments can help to relieve physical pain, heal from injury, realign your body, reduce stress, re-energise weaker areas and ease areas which are overworking. Treatments help calm the nervous system and promote relaxation, this can help to improve your mood, boost energy levels, relieve tension and aid your sleep. By assisting the body to work harmoniously, we can help prevent imbalances from developing into symptoms of dis-ease.
Shiatsu treatments with Martha
Martha supports your body’s own ability to self-repair, our bodies are on an incredible continuing quest for balance (homeostasis). Treatments are a journey through collaboration of client and therapist to facilitate optimum body/mind/spirit harmony.
Treatments are given through loose clothing that enables comfort throughout your treatment, with complete freedom of movement.

Baby Massage with Martha
Classes - The classes that I offer are kept small to enable you to connect to other mothers (who are at a similar stage as you) and to enhance your personal learning journey in a supportive and relaxing environment.
One-to-one - You will learn bespoke routines for your baby in the comfort of your home, learning alongside other family members can be a very special way of integrating baby massage into your family.
Birth preparation sessions with Martha teach birth partners (and mothers-to-be) techniques drawn from massage, acupressure/shiatsu and reflexology to support, enhance and empower your journey through pregnancy and the birth of your baby.
This gives birth partners a reassuring focus to their vital role in this incredible shared experience and mums-to-be the knowledge that they can seek confident and skilled relief and comfort from their birth partner. Sessions are always unique, working together to ensure that your hopes and needs are supported.
You would have a series of sessions together, layering up your knowledge and hands-on experience of the huge potential that these bodywork disciplines can offer during pregnancy, birth and beyond.
Treatments with Martha are given as an additional element, a wonderfully nurturing conclusion to these sessions.
What to expect during a session
Birth preparation sessions will usually take place in my clinic space or a comfortable space in your home.
The first session is usually 2-3 hours long, where key time will be dedicated to discussing both mums-to-be and birth partners hopes and needs.
Ongoing sessions (1-2 hours) will be spent exploring techniques that will nurture, support and relieve mum-to-be. Time is spent where you can explore connecting with each other, developing a listening touch, understanding the principles of the techniques, playing with how each technique can be adapted and finding your pace together.
These sessions include supporting handouts of techniques/positions.
Learn beautifully bonding and nourishing baby massage techniques for your baby and then take time for you, receiving a facial, massage, reflexology or shiatsu treatment.

"We now know that those iPads, smartphones and Xboxes are a form of digital drug. Recent brain imaging research is showing that they affect the brain’s frontal cortex — which controls executive functioning, including impulse control — in exactly the same way that cocaine does. Technology is so hyper-arousing that it raises dopamine levels — the feel-good neurotransmitter most involved in the addiction dynamic — as much as sex."
