Reflexology
Effective reflexology is the art of stimulating reflex areas in your feet and hands which correspond to organs, glands, and each area of your body. Skilled practitioners apply specific and precise techniques. Blood, lymph, nerve and chi circulation improve, your body and mind relax and further balance and well-being can be achieved.
Receiving regular reflexology can make a real difference to your quality of life, effective as part of a healthy lifestyle combining appropriate exercise and good eating practices.
Reflexology with Martha
Martha will work with you to discover areas that require balance through stimulation of the reflexes in your hands and/or feet. Treatments with Martha are holistic (treating you as a whole person, not only a symptom) and Martha brings her knowledge of traditional Chinese medicine to her treatments.
Many health problems can be linked to nervous stress and tension. In treatments with Martha she looks to bring you into deep relaxation, relieving stress and tension and restoring your vitality.

“Martha has been my go-to reflexologist for the past five years – and now, I wouldn’t go anywhere else. Her warmth, professionalism and compassionate approach to her clients is second to none.
Reflexology is a very important and integral part of my wellness, and my regular treatments are like having a huge hug as well as helping me stay calm, focused, and centred. Not everyone has the perfect touch, but Martha does. I have never had to ask her to be more gentle, or more firm – her touch is always just right. Martha goes out of her way to make me feel comfortable, making sure that all parts of my body are supported and comfortable throughout the treatment, so that I can just lie back and enjoy the healing. On occasion I have also experienced her massage and it was heavenly.
Everyone should have a Martha as part of their wellness regime!”

Hot Stones
This dynamic hot stones fusion massage combines the healing properties of heat with the listening touch of my hands to give a soothing, nourishing and replenishing treatment. The stones are used alongside other techniques, responding to the needs of your body.
It’s worth noting that images of hot stones treatments often misleadingly show them as static placements on the body. Hot stones are actually used dynamically, they are used in place of hands, massaging the contours of your body. This treatment feels incredible and is a huge personal favourite of mine!
I recommend at least a 75 minute appointment for this treatment. The duration really depends on how much of the body you would like to be treated, I’m here to be creative so let me know what you would like and we can work it out. There is an additional £10 added to my normal appointment prices for hot stones.
The stones can also be cooled to offer contrast bathing or pure cold elements to a treatment. This can be beneficial in shifting chronic soft tissue pain conditions or to support intense training/strain on muscles.

Shiatsu (Acupressure)
Shiatsu is a holistic, hands-on treatment, with its roots in traditional Chinese medicine. Focused on bringing balance to your physical, spiritual and emotional well-being.
Shiatsu originated in Japan and has evolved to incorporate many western practices. Treatments with Martha can include her working along acupressure (acupuncture) points and meridians, ampuku (abdominal massage), the release of myofascia and muscles, assisted stretches, joint mobilisation and deep rhythmic movement. Treatments are discussed with clients at the beginning of the session, this way we can together find an appropriate and effective treatment.
Shiatsu treatments can help to relieve physical pain, heal from injury, realign your body, reduce stress, re-energise weaker areas and ease areas which are overworking. Treatments help calm the nervous system and promote relaxation, this can help to improve your mood, boost energy levels, relieve tension and aid your sleep. By assisting the body to work harmoniously, we can help prevent imbalances from developing into symptoms of dis-ease.
Shiatsu treatments with Martha
Martha supports your body’s own ability to self-repair, our bodies are on an incredible continuing quest for balance (homeostasis). Treatments are a journey through collaboration of client and therapist to facilitate optimum body/mind/spirit harmony.
Treatments are given through loose clothing that enables comfort throughout your treatment, with complete freedom of movement.

Cupping
Cupping is a technique used in many ancient eastern healing systems, particularly traditional Chinese medicine, as well as traditional Korean and Tibetan practices. Myofascial cupping is the modern version of this ancient practice. Myofascial cupping specifically targets the soft tissue of the musculo-skeletal system, whereas traditional Chinese practitioners focus on acupoints and meridians. Cupping is becoming much more widely used and researched and you will likely have seen the round marks left by the cups on athletes and/or celebrities.
As my treatments are influenced by my training in both eastern and western practices, so is the cupping element of what I offer. I work with each client, as they present on the day of their appointment, and together we can decide whether to include cupping or use other techniques that may be more indicated for the treatment.
A vacuum created by the cups provides a suction, lifting the soft tissue and providing a decompression to the area. Stimulating blood flow and oxygen, helping to relax muscles and tissues, relieve pain, and trigger the body's natural healing processes.
Myofascial cupping is thought to be especially good when working with shoulder and back pain but can also be used on arms, legs and glutes, and even feet during reflexology.
The main known benefits of myofascial cupping:
Reduces tight ‘knots’/trigger points/soft tissue adhesions
Stimulates blood flow, the immune response and tissue repair
Increases range of movement in joints
Cups are used after oil is applied, they are kept on for anywhere up to around 10 minutes but can often be used for much shorter durations. You can expect to experience a warm, stretching sensation, you should not feel pain, the intensity is easily adjusted. Round marks are normal with this treatment and will often fade within 2 - 7 days.
